Are you fed up with constant barking at late hours of the night? Even the most experienced dog trainers sometimes have to face the fact that regular anti barking training isn’t working and a bark collar has to be brought in. A bark collar is not exactly the thing that dog owners would prefer to train their dogs with, but it’s effective and gets the job done.

Dog owners know that their pet is unique in the world, which is why it’s always a good idea to invest some time comparing the different types of collars available. In order to give you a head start, we present you here some choices that people prefer when they buy a bark collar.

The Sonic Bark Collar

This collar is one of the most popular collars that are available for the general public. This type of collar produces high pitched sound whenever the dog barks. The objective of the sound is to distract the dog from whatever he was barking at and make him focus on the sound. The sound that the collar emit is so high pitched that humans can’t hear it at all, although dogs can hear it without a problem. There are some dog owners that believe that the sound can be harmful becuase it’s so high pitched, but despite what you see in movies, you don’t suffer just because a sound is high pitched, like a high pitched opea singer. Anyway, the sound only lasts as long as the dog keeps barking, and if the sound makes the barking stop, therefore it can’t last long.

The Citronella Collar

The spray collar is designed to squirt out citronella spray unto the dog’s snout every time the dog barks. Citronella is annoying to a dog’s taste. If your dog receives a squirt of citronella every time he barks, he will soon get the message that barking is a bad idea. The other side of the coin is that sometimes the smell of citronella can linger around for much longer than the owner intended it to. Some dogs might believe that the punishment still continues and might not make the connection with the barking. If you do not want your dog to be grumpy or morose after getting a squirt of citronella, you better not use the spray collar to stop your dog from barking.

Electrical Shock Collar

The shock collar is very well known for its effectiveness, as well of being infamous among some dog lovers for its method of correction. Note that the shock collar sends electric pulses to your dog’s muscles whenever it barks. Although the electric shocks may be mild and tolerable, still, the electric shock can be a bit painful on your dog.
